Christine French

Current Teaching Position

I have taught in the Business and Technology Division at Mid-Plains Community College since 1989 and has served as the Division Chair since 2006.

Past Teaching Experience

Adjunct lecturer of Business and Technology for Northeast Community College (1980-1986) and Metro Community College (1987-1988); and taught for 11 ½ years at two Nebraska Public High Schools.

Current & Past MPBEA/NBEA Offices, Committees

My current memberships include National Business Education Association (NBEA), Mountain-Plains Business Education Association (M-PBEA), Nebraska State Business Education Association (NSBEA), Association for Research in Business Education-Delta Pi Epsilon (ARBE-DPE), Association for Career & Technical Education (ACTE), and Nebraska Association for Career & Technical Education (ACTEN). I have attended many National, Regional, and State Business Education conferences, often presenting and serving as a coordinator or liaison.
Board positions held are:

Nebraska State Business Education Association member, since 1989 to the present. Positions held: President, President-elect/newsletter editor, secretary-treasurer (two-terms), postsecondary representative, fall conference chair, spring conference co-chair, nominating committee and five-year planning committee.
Mountain-Plains Business Education Association member, since 1989 to the present. Nebraska Membership Director, current Executive Secretary, and Conference treasurer for two conferences held in Nebraska.
National Business Education Association member, since 1989 to the present. A member of the National Policies Commission for Business and Economic Education, from April 2012 – April 2014, a three-year term. Served as liaison and session coordinator for numerous national conferences.

How long have you been a NBEA member?

I have been a member since 1989.

Why are you running for this position? and/or what can you bring to the MPBEA board?

I am running for this position because I have had so many colleagues and business educators positively influence me and my educational career; so I would like to give back to our association. I want to be a part of the continual positive changes to our organization. Serving on the Mountain-Plains Board as Nebraska Membership Director and filling the Executive Secretary position this past year has given me a unique perspective and desire to represent our members. Previous MPBEA Presidents and President-elects have been tremendous leaders and demonstrated excellence in business education. I have learned so much from them about dedication, leadership, the importance and value of recruitment and retention of membership, passion for business education, and what rewards our association represents. I would like to continue this leadership as President-Elect. I hope you will give me the opportunity to represent you and our association as your next MPBEA President-Elect.
